Shakira Holds Talks With UK PM Gordon Brown
Shakira held talks with the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, about 'global education for developing countries as part of Global Campaign for Education Action Week this week'. Yes, really. It seems she is the 'honorary chairperson for GCE Action Week'. She praised Brown by saying he is 'very smart, brave' and has 'wonderful intentions'. Which sort of sums up why many people think celebrity involvement with such issues doesn't really achieve much. As is often said the world in paved with good intentions plus, lets face it, the PM isn't doing much of a good job running the UK. Shakira will 'fly to Washington Today to visit Members of Congress to bring attention of the Education for All Act of 2007.' No doubt Mr. Bush will also be a man of good intentions.
