Rebecca Strachan of DGDY To Perform In South Korea
An unusal story this. Rebecca Strachan, a British girl, born May 9 1988, has got South Korea in a spin with her singing - and she's never been to the country. She and a friend Sharon Schilperoord from Holland, Born January 2 1990, made videos of Korean songs calling themselves DGDY and their versaion of Promise You [AnyBand] (orig BoA Xiah Bora Tablo) has become a great favourite. So much so that the Korean label J-Tune and the social network site Gypsii are paying for a trip for them to go to Seoul, the South Korean capital. Gypsii boss said, "We intend to make Rebecca a sensation." Rebecca Strachan is from Basingstoke in the UK and will fly out next month to receive expert singing and dancing tuition and is set to do a proper gig in May. Rebecca told a local newspaper, the Basingstoke Gazette: "I can't believe the amount of interest we've received in Korea and the whole thing seems like a dream. When I posted the video, I was totally unprepared for all the attention.The chief executive of Gypsii, Kyu Sub Choi, said of Rebecca: "Rebecca is a very talented and highly-motivated young lady. Her cover versions of Korean pop songs have attracted tremendous attention on YouTube and Korean websites and, globally, more than a million people have viewed her video.What a great positive story this is.
