Local Girl Ashanti Promotes The Island Next door
 A first ever tourist campaign for Nassau County called The Island Next Door was helped out by local girl Ashanti. Ashanti, full name Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, was at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City where the campaign was launched. Her orange jacket and badge/patch was supplied the County Executive, Thomas Suozzi. Ashanti said, "It's amazing to be asked to give something back to the community."
