 Jonathan RossChat show host Jonathan Ross was back on television last night following his ban for the Sachs controversy. I see that Andrew Sachs and his daughter have been in the press today telling of how Ross/Brand have 'ripped their family apart.' Sachs hasn't spoken to granddaughter Georgina Baillie since the infamous phone calls. Though Ross and Brand were in the wrong the problem between Sachs and Georgina is because he found out that she dabbled in porn and drugs and was in a group called the Satanic Sluts. So isn't Georgina also partly to blame? If she'd been a clean living girl the whole matter would no doubt be all forgotten now.  Paris HiltonIt seems that socialite (what on earth does that mean?) Paris Hilton caused havoc in Japan when she went to buy some food from Subway. Hundreds of fans swarmed her car and jammed the Tokyo traffic. Paris had to go without her food and sent a flunky for it later. What exactly is her great appeal? Simon Cowell What a joke! See also our post here. I'm A Celebrity While the television show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here wasn't on ITV1, because of international football, two new contestants were moved into the jungle. They are David Van Day from the due Dollar and the irritating Timmy Mallett - remember Mallett's Mallet? Both desperately need a career boost. Mallett has been sent in to wind up his other jungle mates. He said, "I’m aware I can be rather abrupt. I don’t suffer fools terribly easily. The discomfort of seeing this could be quite great." GMTV The replacement for Fiona Phillips on GMTV has now been announced. It will be the Sky News presenter Emma Crosby. She said, "I am very excited to be joining Britain's leading breakfast programme and working alongside Kate Garraway, who is a great talent." Jonathan Ross The Telegraph reports, "Jonathan Ross should never return to Radio 2, according to BBC staff and presenters who are angry about the damage that the 'Sachsgate' scandal has done to the station." Already there has been the first bikini shower scene in an attempt to rival previous series. Reg Varney The comedian actor, Reg Varney, famed for the television series On The Buses and The Rag Trade has died at the age of 92. Rod Stewart The Prince of Wales celebrated his 60th birthday at Highgrove House and Rod Stewart was there, along with wife Penny Lancaster-Stewart, to provide part of the entertainment. Rod is a patron of The Princes Trust. Jonathon Ross Another birthday boy is Jonathan Ross, his is today. But, you've got to laugh, he locked himself out of his North London house after dropping his daughter at a train station. He was dressed in a graphic printed set of - well they looked like pyjamas. Dr Who Speculation is rife that David Morrisey will be the next Dr Who. In the Dr Who Christmas show David Tennant (present Doctor) comes face to face with another person calling himself a Time Lord - and this is played by David.  The Jonathan Ross / Russell Brand / Georgina Baillie saga rumbles on.The latest repercussion is that Jonathan Ross has dropped out of presenting ITV's British Comedy Awards for which, it is reported, he was to be paid £100,000 (about $180,000). His spokesperson said, "It's a show he very much enjoys being part of but would not want his participation in this year's event to take away from the awards themselves or the many talented winners of the awards." ITV, in a statement replied, "We respect Jonathan's decision to stand down from the 2008 British Comedy Awards which has been made with the full support of ITV and the show's producers." And what of Georgina Baillie, the probable winner, in this controversy? According to the Guardian she will do an exclusive interview on Five in a documentary with the tasteful title Russell & Ross: What the F*** Was All That About? It's interesting that she now has a publicist, the excellent Max Clifford, and that the documentary will also feature, 'previously unseen footage of Miss Baillie in action as she performs with her four-piece burlesque dance group, Satanic Sluts Extreme.' You could ask, "What the F*** is that all about?" Is that the sound of pound notes rustling? And The Winner Is Georgina Baillie
| The BBC director general has suspended both Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand over the Andrew Sachs prank phone calls. You can read Mark Thompson's official statement here. So are there any winners? Probably Georgina Baillie, Sachs' granddaughter, who is now all over the headlines and has also told her story to the Sun.  Georgina admits that she did sleep with Russell Brand but says she's 'utterly horrified and disgusted' at what has happened. Can't doubt her word, but this is a girl who tried out for Page 3 and is in a dance troupe called the Satanic Sluts. Some would say that their act is 'disgusting', see photo, but everything boils down to personal opinion.The phone calls should never have been sanctioned to go on air, remember it was all pre-recorded. What was the producer thinking. It's a prank which got out of hand. You can imagine how this happened. They try to phone Andrew Sachs for an interview but get no reply. Russell jokes that he had f***** Sachs granddaughter, which turns out to be true, and it all snowballed from there. The BBC could have done a limitation exercise if they had handled the matter straight away instead of letting the saga run for 10 days. To my mind it has been blown up out of all proportion.
