Bo Diddley Has Died
The legendary Bo Diddley has died in Florida, he was 79. In August of 2007 he suffered a stroke which left him without speech. Bo, real name Ellas Bates, was considered one of the architects of rock'n'roll. His fame began on the Ed Sullivan Show on television when he was 26 - a classic in its day. This was in 1955 and prior to the likes of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly becoming household names. His signature beat became standard throughout the years and he was always aggrieved that this could never be made copyright. He was entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
