Sarah Brightman Photo: Will Sing At Olympic Ceremony
As we surely can't have missed, the Olympic Games kicks off on Friday with the opening ceremony. It has now been announced by the organisers that Sarah Brightman and China's Liu Huan will sing at the ceremony. The couple will perform a specially commissioned theme song. The show itself will, according to Zhang Heping, 'showcase the ancient and long history of the Chinese nation as well as reflecting modern day China.' Zhang also went on to say how he hopes that athletes will not use the Olympics for any protests. He said, "We hope and believe the athletes in the Olympic Games know they should not link the Olympic Games with politics. It would run against the charter of the Olympics and the spirit of the Olympic movement." Sarah Brightman, now 47, is an English soprano, actress, songwriter and dancer. She was first known for performing in sexy dance troupes such as Hot Gossip. Her real stardom came with musical theatre and her marriage to composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, from whom she got divorced in 1990. myLot.
