George Sampson: Britain's Got Talent Winner
Well we didn't get that quite right! George Sampson, the 14 year old dancer, has just won Britain's Got Talent with his stunning version of an updated Singing In The Rain. George is 14 (15 on the 29th of June) and lives in Birchwood. He has built a good fan base on the Internet on forums, such as at ITV.com and on websites such as bebo. His fans were mobilised and did their job to make George a winner (and to pocket the £100,000 and Royal Variety performance). Well done to him and those that supported him, especially his mother. The likes of Faryl Smith will be disappointed but have a good future ahead of them. Simon Cowell will be visualising the cash tills already. Faryl Smith, Escala, Kate & Gin: Who Will Win Tonight?
Tonight is the Britain's Got Talent final with 12 year old Faryl Smith easily the favourite to win, that's her photo on the left. She has a remarkable voice and no matter if she wins or loses is destined to become a big star. It's interesting to see that Simon Cowell is so impressed with her that he has arranged private singing lessons for her with Yvie Burnett who helped Paul Potts. So who else is in the running? Their are eight in the final and these are the best odds available on the web at the time of writing. Faryl Smith - evens Escala - 7/4 George Sampson - 6/1 Signature - 9/1 Andrew Muir - 12/1 Andrew Johnston - 18/1 Strike - 25/1 Kate and Gin - 40/1 Nemesis - 45/1 Cheeky Monkeys - 50/1 I guess if I was a betting man my own top three would be Faryl Smith, Escala and Kate & Gin but phone votes can do the unexpected. You never know what's going on behind the scenes to influence the public. Escala were originally known as Scala but had to change because of copyright reasons. There has also been a little controversy as to how they got on the show. It is alleged that they were 'invited' to the auditions by Simon Cowell and were already known to ITV1 staff. They have been working professionally for quite a while and have performed alongside McFly and were chosen to perform at the X Factor wrap party. ITV, however, said, "Scala went through the same application and audition process as everyone else." But things are not always exactly as they are seen in life. Let's see what happens to the voting tonight. Labels: Britain's Got Talent, Escala, Faryl Smith, Kate and Gin, Simon Cowell |
Amy Winehouse Back On Stage In Lisbon
It's good to have a photo of Amy Winehouse doing what she should be doing - singing. This was her last night at the Rock in Rio Lisboa 2008 festival (Lisbon, Portugal) where she did her bit to a 90,000 crowd. As per usual her performance was received with mixed opinions. She was late on stage, apologised for her weak voice, was sucking throat pastilles, dropped her microphone, swore and only did two-thirds of the expected song list. But at least she was there. Amy told her audience, "My voice is not singing right and I can't even hold the microphone. But I wanted to be here so much." Amy Winehouse is popular in Portugal and helped to sell out the festival. Her album Back to Black was at number one in their charts in February this year. She is also scheduled to appear at several other European festivals this year. 20 Hottest Young Royals & The Topless Princess
Forbes have released yet another 'list' this time it's the 20 Hottest Young Royals. It's a bit of a strange list regarding the female royals, how can Princess Beatrice possibly be 'hotter' than Sweden's Princess Madeline? See her photos. In the case of this list, however, 'hot' is used in a different context. To create the list Forbes 'counted international Web and media presence as well as family wealth. Only unmarried royals under the age of 35 were considered.' Prince William heads the top twenty with Prince Harry in second place. It must be said that many of the royals aren't exactly household names. The topless Princess Sikhanyiso of Swaziland, for example, isn't exactly a familiar theme on the Internet. The full list can be seen below. 1. Prince William (see photo with Princess Beatrice) 2. Prince Harry 3. Zara Phillips 4. Princes Beatrice 5. Charlotte Casiraghi 6. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum 7. Princes Victoria 8. Prince Azim 9. Sharon Stone has put her foot in it. She's upset the Chinese by talking about the recent horrific earthquake in their country. Sharon said, "I thought, 'Is that karma?' Kirsten Dunst has been trying to put the record straight about her spell in Cirque Lodge. It was said at the time, in much of the media, that she was there because of alcohol or drugs abuse. Kirsten has come out strongly saying that this wasn't true. She was in fact in there battling depression after spending six months trying to deal with it by herself. She told Marc Malkin: "Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about. Labels: Kirsten Dunst |

Konnie Huq Cleavage To Go On Display
It seems that Konnie Huq has finally 'sold out' and has agreed to pose for some sexy photos for GQ magazine according to the Daily Star. For those who may not know Konnie is an ex-children's show (Blue Peter) presenter who got many older male viewers also glued to their television sets watching kids TV. A while back Konnie is reported to have said: "I’ve had offers from lads’ mags. I wouldn’t mind, as long as it was classy and sexy. The problem is, when you have big boobs like mine, a topless photo shoot looks tacky, whereas with someone like Kate Moss, who has a flatter chest, it looks arty. I’m not going to rule anything out. I’d love to be a sex symbol. If you’ve got it, you have to use it."So it looks as if the money is finally right but a friend is quoted as telling the Daily Star, "Konnie wouldn't do anything that isn't tasteful but she realises that it's a grown-up magazine with grown-up readers." So there will be no Konnie Huq topless photos ... yet! Their are sexy photos of Konnie Huq on the blog In Praise Of Konnie Huq Labels: Konnie Huq, Konnie Huq cleavage, Konnie Huq topless |
The Eurovision Farce
The now farcical Eurovision 2008 song contest was won last night by Russia with Dima Bilan singing Believe. Ukraine and Ani Lorak, as mentioned in our previous post, was second. Eurovision 2008 Winners 1. Russia: 272 points 2. Ukraine: 230 3. Greece: 218 4. Armenia: 199 5. Norway: 182 Something I thought I'd never say but, for once I agree with the UK presenter Terry Wogan when he said that Eurovision is "no longer a music contest". Wogan went on to say, "Indeed, western European participants have to decide whether they want to take part from here on in because their prospects are poor." The voting is now done on political grounds and has nothing to do with the best song. It's about voting for your 'mates' in adjoining countries and over the top presentations. The Russians even had an ice skater on stage - what on earth has that got to do with singing. It must be said, in fairness, that the Russian song was adequate but one of the favourites, Sweden, which won a trial vote, got nowhere. And mainly because they aren't an eastern European country. Changes need to be made or the whole thing will become a complete and utter farce. The Google Trend That Is Wendi Deng
It's strange how the celebrity game works, at the moment one of the popular names is Wendi Deng. She's even one of Google's top 100 trends. Wonder why? Wendi Deng is the Chinese born wife of billionaire Rupert Murdoch. They got hitched on June 25 1999 and have two children, Grace and Chloe. She is a business woman in her own right and is a director for the holding company that licences the MySpace brand to MySpace China. She may have become news because of the couples age difference, not that this had suddenly happened, of course! She is 40 to his 74. According to some research at Stanford University it shows that the older a man is when he marries, after the age of 40, the greater the likelihood that his wife will be a lot younger. And this doesn't supposedly just apply to millionaires and billionaires, it's the same for financially poor men. Must say this sounds hard to believe - the 'poor man' version that is. But statistics, that can be made to prove anything, show that men in their 60's for example tend to marry women at least 13 years younger than themselves. Yes, but being a male billionaire must help, mustn't it? Labels: Rupert Murdoch, Wendi Deng |

Michelle Williams looked stunning at the 2008 Cannes Festival yesterday as can be seen by the photo. She was attending the premiere of Synecdoche, New York (see TimesOnLine for a review). All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day." Photo: WENN Labels: Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams, Synecdoche New York |

Gemma Garrett Flops Despite Her Cleavage Show
The delusional and publicity seeking Gemma Garrett, Miss Great Britain, slumped to an embarrassingly low number of votes at the Crewe by-election. She came rock bottom out of 10 candidates with only o.27 of the votes. And to think that on Thursday she said, "I have been taking lots of votes away from Labour and if they don't get in a lot of fingers are going to point at me." Ha ha ha! Mind you the Daily Star is also pretty stupid as well. They wrote about how, 'Gemma has sent voters into a frenzy with her Beauties For Britain Party. She is winning huge support on her final day of campaigning to become Britain's hottest MP (Member of Parliament). Of course neither Gemma Garrett or the Daily Star are really stupid as they generated publicity for each other - and that seems to often be the whole reason for the 'celebrity game'. Here are the full results of the Crewe and Nantwich by-election: Edward Timpson (Con) 20,539 (49.49%,) Tamsin Dunwoody (Lab) 12,679 (30.55%) Elizabeth Shenton (Lib Dem) 6,040 (14.55%) Mike Nattrass (UKIP) 922 (2.22%) Robert Smith (Green) 359 (0.87%) David Roberts (Eng Dem) 275 (0.66%) The Flying Brick (Monster Raving Loony) 236 (0.57%) Mark Walklate (Ind) 217 (0.52%) Paul Thorogood (Cut Tax on Diesel and Petrol) 118 (0.28%) Gemma Garrett (Ind) 113 (0.27%) More information about Gemma Garrett: Gemma Garrett, Miss Great Britain, The Politician Labels: Gemma Garrett |

Christy Oglevee Set To Marry Chris Cooley
On Friday evening Chris Cooley of the Washington Redskins is set to wed the ex cheerleader Christy Oglevee who got fired for dating him. It seems Redskinettes mustn't fraternize with players. Guess it's a double standards thing though, as Chris didn't get the boot as well. The couple have been engaged for nine months and fuller details of how they met are on washingtonpost.com. Chris wrote lovingly about Christy Oglevee: "As we moved through the season, I fell in love with her. We went through a lot of weird stuff, but it never fazed either of us. Maybe her dad brainwashed me one of the nights I passed out at her house, because no matter what happened, I was crazy about her. More likely it was her mom, since I was usually trying to impress the old man by drinking him under the table." Labels: Chris Cooley, Christy Oglevee, Christy Oglevee photos |
